Alameda Is Getting Greener - Food Waste to be Collected in Green Recycling Cart
The City of Alameda and ACI are gearing up to include additional organic materials in the current yard waste recycling program. The organic (green) recycling stream will include: yard waste, food scraps and food-soiled paper. In October 2002, residents in selected neighborhoods will participate in a pilot program. Pilot Organic Recycling Program in Progress
The City's Pilot Organic Recycling Program began in early October and is moving ahead well. The pilot program is scheduled to proceed during the Fall months in three neighborhoods of the City. The Organic waste stream includes food scraps, food-soiled paper and yard waste. Residents of the area have already received an introductory letter from the City and Alameda County Industries outlining the program parameters, and a postcard from Alameda County Industries, reminding them of the beginning of the pilot program. read more...
